Real Madrid should be worried about City’s mega plan for Haaland
According to reports, Manchester City are considering renewing Erling Haaland’s contract until 2029.
Manchester City are determined to secure the future of Norwegian striker Erling Haaland despite interest from top clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid. The club are reportedly considering offering Haaland a new contract that would extend his stay until 2029.
According to The Mirror, the “Citizens” are confident of reaching an agreement with the 24-year-old and plan to make him the highest-paid player in the Premier League.
Reports suggest that the proposed deal would see Haaland earning £500,000 per week, surpassing teammate Kevin De Bruyne’s weekly wage of £400,000.
Negotiations have already begun with Haaland’s family and his agent, Brazilian Rafaela Pimenta. Manchester City have reportedly taken significant steps toward finalising a renewal by proposing a two-year extension to his current contract.
How much does Haaland earn, and when does his contract expire?
According to Spotrac, Haaland’s current contract includes an annual salary of £19.5 million, which equates to £375,000 per week. His existing deal keeps him at Manchester City until 2027, at which point he would become a free agent.
The proposed extension would see his weekly earnings increase by £125,000 and secure his place at the club until at least his 29th birthday.
