How bad is Mbappé’s illness?

The club confirmed that the 25-year-old forward was admitted for testing and treatment after his condition worsened, with a persistent fever that failed to respond to initial medication.

Mbappé had already missed Madrid’s tournament opener against Al Hilal and didn’t travel to the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, where the game took place. According to team sources, he was struggling throughout the day and into the evening in Palm Beach. He lacked the strength even for light physical activity and had also been absent from training the previous day.

Rather than improving, his symptoms intensified. The club’s medical team administered aggressive treatment, but when that failed to bring his fever or stomach issues under control, they opted to hospitalize him late on Wednesday night.

How long will Mbappé stay in hospital in Florida?

He spent the night under observation at a medical facility whose name has not been disclosed due to privacy concerns. He will remain there until doctors determine he’s well enough to return to the team’s base at the Four Seasons Hotel in South Florida.

His chances of featuring in Madrid’s upcoming second group game with Mexico’s Pachuca now appear slim. Head coach Xabi Alonso had already hinted at Mbappé’s uncertain status following the team’s 2–2 draw with Al Hilal.
