Just minutes before the end of the UEFA Nations League match between Wales and Türkiye in Cardiff, Arda Güler became the latest Real Madrid player to be involved in an injury scare.

What happened to Arda Güler against Wales?

The 19-year-old went down after taking a blow to his left tibia (shin), which led to him receiving medical treatment on the field and eventually asking to be substituted. After being treated by the Türkiye team doctors, Güler was able to walk off the field unassisted but was limping slightly. He then took up a place on the bench, holding an ice pack on his lower leg.

The attacking midfielder had also received treatment earlier in the game for another knock in the same region. No medical tests have been carried out as yet, although the early signs suggest he will be out of his country’s next Nations League game at home to Iceland on Monday.

Real Madrid are next in action away to Real Sociedad on Saturday, September 14. The Turk made his first appearance in the starting lineup - and scored the only goal - in the corresponding fixture last season. Güler has played in three of Los Blancos’ four LaLiga matches so far, starting in the home victory against Real Valladolid.

Real Madrid’s fitness issues: which players are injured?

Carlo Ancelotti’s team have had some seriously bad luck in relation to injuries during the international break.

David Alaba, Jude Bellingham, Ferland Mendy, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Eduardo Camavinga and youngster Jacobo Ramón were already dealing with fitness issues and have been joined in the treatment room by Eder Militão, who has been forced to pull out of the Brazil squad after suffering a thigh muscle injury.

The centre-back is expected to arrive back in Madrid on Saturday and will be examined by club doctors. Güler’s injury is thought to be less serious, although it is too early to say whether he will be involved against Real Sociedad.
