World Cup 2026 Group C: Standings, results, and who can qualify
Scotland are the unlikely leaders in Group C and are well positioned to make it to the knockout stage for the first time in history.

Echoes of the 1978 World Cup for Scotland, who find themselves in the privileged position of topping Group C after the first round of games. After failing to qualify for the last six editions, and having never made past in the group stage in any of their eight previous appearances, the Tartan Army can start dreaming - although the real test lies ahead in their next two games.
Scotland’s 0-1 win over Haiti means they are the only team in Group C on three points. Brazil were held by Morocco in East Rutherford with Vinicius hauling Ancelotti’s men level with a moment of brilliance on the half hour.
The opening results leaves the group finely balanced but the lie of the land should look clearer after the next round of matches.

Next up for Scotland are Morocco - arguably their toughest rivals in terms of intensity and organisation as well as being the favorites to win the group.
Brazil meanwhile are up against Haiti - a game they are expected to win, although the Seleção are not the force they once were and their defensive weaknesses were laid bare in their opener against Morocco.
Brazil and Morocco need a win to take up position in the top two qualifying berths but if Scotland get another result, things could start to get interesting.
