Roger Martínez prioritises move to Europe over Boca Juniors
The Colombian striker will stay with Club América until the end of his contract in June 2023, AS Mexico can confirm.
Boca Juniors have once again shown their interest in América striker Roger Martínez, 28, and according to reports it was Xeneize vice-president Juan Roman Riquelme who recently made contact with the Colombian in an attempt to bring him to the Argentinian club.
However, according to AS Mexico, Martínez will stay at América until his contract runs out on 30 June 2023. The forward is in contact with Riquelme, but his priority is getting a move to Europe. Club sources say that there is no pre-contract with the Argentinian ahead of the end of his contract with the club.
Boca search for striker
In the previous transfer window, Boca were also looking for a top-class No 9 and the main target was the Colombian player. It should be noted that despite Boca’s desire, “Tano” Ortíz told the player that he wanted him for the Clausura 2023.
Since his arrival at Las Águilas in 2018, Martínez has played 151 games, scoring 34 goals and registering 14 assists. In the last tournament, after suffering an injury that kept him out for two months, he played nine matches, a total of 296 minutes, where he scored three goals and assisted twice.
