Roger Martínez could be playing his last tournament with Club América as his contract expires on 30 June. The Colombian striker doesn’t want to stay with the Liga MX giants and he will listen to offers from other clubs during the summer when he is a free agent. According to sources from AS, the 28-year-old is ready to part ways with América and there have been no talks to extend his stay.

Last tournament with América

The striker has stated in the past that he wants to keep winning titles with Club América as long as he is under contract and he has shown his commitment during the Clausura 2023. Martínez has made six appearances this campaign and scored one goal. América’s head coach, Fernando Ortíz, is aware that the striker will leave in the summer so he has been used as a substitute during the Clausura 2023.

Right now I am not thinking about that [extending his contract]. I’m only thinking about helping the team and being fit to play in the upcoming tournament,” said Martínez prior to the start of the season when asked about his future during a press conference.

Martínez arrived at América in 2018 from La Liga side Villarreal and he has made a total of 156 appearances in Liga MX. The 28-year-old has helped the Eagles win the Liga MX trophy, the CONCACAF Champions League and Copa MX, scoring 35 goals and providing 17 assists.
