Romell Quioto becomes the all-time Honduran leading scorer in MLS
The striker from the Honduras national team has scored 12 goals in the 2022 season and found the back of the net in CF Montréal’s 3-2 win over Houston Dynamo.
Romell Quioto arrived in Major League Soccer in 2017 with Houston Dynamo and quickly became a key player by constantly finding the back of the net. In his first three campaigns the Honduras international scored 15 goals and provided 17 assists during the regular season and led the Houston-based team to the playoffs in 2017.
Quito joined CF Montréal in 2020 and kept scoring and just this weekend found the net again in the Canadian-based team’s 3-2 victory over the Houston Dynamo at PNC stadium. With his latest goal, Quioto became the all-time leading scorer for a Honduras player in Major League Soccer history.
Quioto’s legacy in MLS
The 31-year-old now tallies 44 goals in Major League Soccer across all competitions with two different teams and he surpassed his compatriot Amado Guevara, who had previously reached 43 goals during his time in the United States top tier.
Romell Quioto has become a key player for CF Montréal and thanks to him reaching peak form, the club is in second place in the Eastern Conference with 43 points. The Canadian-based team is odds-on to secure a spot in the MLS Cup playoffs and Quioto could help the team make a push to win the championship this season.
