Santos Laguna strengthen attack with Duván Vergara
The player is the club’s second signing of the preseason. He was presented and integrated with his team mates after passing a medical.
Duván Vergara has signed for Santos Laguna to strengthen the team’s attack ahead of the Apertura 2023. The 26-year-old joins from Monterrey and hopes to play a key role in the Albiverde frontline both in the Liga MX and the Leagues Cup.
The Colombia international had little participation with Monterrey during the Clausura 2023. He made just 13 appearances out of a possible 21 in the regular season and knockout phase - all of them coming off the bench, taking his total playing time to 212 minutes.
During the tournament, Vergara made one contribution - he scored the equaliser in the 1-1 draw against León in Week 9 from the penalty spot.
The player spoke a few words after being officially presented, thanking everyone involved in his arrival at the Torreón campus.
“First of all, I thank God for this new opportunity that he is giving me. I feel very happy, immensely happy to be at a beautiful and big club like Santos. I would also like to thank the directors and the technical Staff. Now, I will try to do everything as I can well, give my best and show what I am capable of,” he said.
He also delivered a message to the fans, showing his desire to succeed with the club, which opened the doors for him to stay in Mexican soccer.
“For the fans, I thank them very much for their support. Let’s hope that everything goes well for us, which is what we all want. A very humble Duván is joining you - a player who will always give everything for this shirt. Let’s all go together hand in hand with God because we are going to do very well,” the striker continued.
