What the managers have said
Scotland manager Steve Clarke and England manager Gareth Southgate both spoke to the media ahead of this one.
“We want to beat them every bit as much as they want to beat us,” Clarke said pre-match.
“It should make for a full-blooded contest played in the right spirit in a magnificent atmosphere. You can relax a little in some friendlies: not in this one!”
“We cannot fiddle around with the team because we are playing a top-level side,” said Southgate. “You cannot overly experiment because that would be ridiculous.
“You’ve also got to find out about certain players. You have got to be bold enough to do that. This will be something different for those who were not in the last England v Scotland game.”
The first international soccer match was between Scotland and England on November 30, 1872.
Today the countries will play the 150th anniversary celebration match.
