Seattle Sounders managed to secure a 2-2 draw against Pumas at Ciudad Universitaria on Wednesday night in the first leg of the 2022 CONCACAF Champions League final. Now they are preparing to host the Liga MX side in the second leg at Lumen Field, as they attempt to win their first Champions League trophy.

Record-breaking attendance

The Sounders have confirmed that more than 61,000 tickets have been sold for the return in Seattle - a figure that would break the attendance record for a CONCACAF Champions League final, surpassing the 61,004 fans that saw Club América defeat Montréal at Olympic Stadium in 2015.

The Major League Soccer franchise is urging fans to buy tickets as soon as possible before they are sold out and there are some available in the upper bowl. The Sounders are playing in their first continental final and want to make history at home and secure their ticket to the FIFA Club World Cup.

I am never surprised by our fans and their love of the game and the Sounders, but nevertheless they deserve real credit for breaking the Champions League final attendance record days in advance of Wednesday’s kickoff,” said Sounders FC Owner & President of Business Operations Peter Tomozawa.

We know that this upcoming game is historic, and we want to create a fortress for our team inside Lumen Field. This is the only major trophy missing from our club’s collection, and we are calling on every Sounders fan in the region to be there and support the team. If you don’t already have your tickets, please act fast before they’re gone. We can’t wait to see you all on Wednesday night, let’s make history!”
