SHEBELIEVES CUP
SheBelieves Cup 2024: USWNT matches, dates, teams, times
Here’s all the information you need ahead of the SheBelieves Cup which starts in April.
Since 2016, the SheBelieves Cup has been held annually in the United States, a tournament that was born with the intention of promoting women’s soccer.
It involves the United States national team and three invited nations; for the ninth edition, the USWNT will welcome the same squads from the previous year: Japan, Brazil and Canada.
On this occasion, the format underwent changes in the calendar due to the first edition of the W Gold Cup taking place earlier in the year (won by the USWNT against Brazil). Although the same participants will remain, the number of matches will be reduced to four instead of the usual six.
The semi-finals will start on April 6, with a match for third place and the final coming after. For the following edition, the format will return to three double-headers.
The United States dominate the SheBelieves trophy haul with six titles out of the eight contested so far. Only England (2019) and France (2017) have managed to beat the home side.
Kilgore’s team will open their participation against Japan, an opponent they have faced 39 times with a record of 30 wins, 8 losses and only one draw.
The Stars and Stripes are undefeated in their last 12 meetings. Added to this feat is the fact that they will have in their ranks the player who has scored the most goals for the US against the Japanese national team: Alex Morgan, who has 12 goals and three assists in 15 appearances.
