Six games remain for Arsenal, Liverpool and City as Guardiola’s side take control in title race
Both Liverpool and Arsenal suffered shock home defeats on Sunday leaving City in pole position in the title race.
Sunday’s Premier League games threw up two results that have tilted the Premier League title race very much in favour of Manchester City with both Liverpool and Arsenal slipping up in their home games against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa respectively.
Guardiola’s men were in action on Saturday evening and had little trouble in dismantling Luton Town with a 5-1 win but not even the most optimistic City fans would have imagined that both Liverpool and Arsenal would slip-up and move City into pole position in the table as they look to make history and become the first side to win four successive Premier League titles?
Just six games remain in the current campaign with 18 points still to play for. As things stand, City now hold a two point advantage over both the Gunners and the Reds, and have, at least on paper, arguably the easiest fixture list.
All three sides are still involved in European competition although Liverpool have a major uphill task in turning around a 0-3 home loss against Atalanta in the Europa League with both Arsenal and City recording Champions League quarter-final (first leg) draws in their games against Bayern and Real Madrid.
