Antonio Conte’s days at Tottenham are numbered. While the Spurs manager is in Italy, the club is preparing a severance package with former player Ryan Mason lined up to take charge of the team until the end of the season. Mason has acted as interim manager before, he was in charge for seven games during the 2020/2021 season after José Mourinho was sacked.

Meanwhile the Spurs board is in full negotiations to terminate the remaining three months of the Italian coach’s contract. According to reports from British newspaper The Daily Mail: “President Daniel Levy is ready to dismiss Antonio Conte during the current international break, and internal talks on the terms of his departure are already underway.” Although the Italian’s future beyond this season was already in doubt, he appeared to have sealed his fate with the statements he made about his squad during his post-match press conference after the 3-3 draw with Southampton at the weekend.

However, before announcing Conte’s departure and beginning the search for a replacement, Daniel Levy must negotiate the terms of the dismissal. “Conte only has three months left on his contract, which was worth 15 million pounds a year. That means that Conte would be owed compensation of about 4 million pounds - not counting the money he owes to his staff”. An substantial financial outlay for Spurs in the middle of the season. The club and coach will seek an agreement that, if reached, would ensure Conte’s departure from Tottenham “would happen quickly”.
