Taty Castellanos’ move from New York City FC to Lazio delayed
Argentine forward Castellanos is eventually expected to put pen to paper on a five-year deal with the Serie A side.
Lazio looked set to complete the signing of New York City FC forward Taty Castellanos but the move is now expected to be delayed.
In Italy, TMW report that there is set to be a delay with visa issues reportedly creating the hold-up.
Castellanos is likely to join his new team-mates on 29 July instead of this week. Il Messaggero report that Lazio will pay $22.5 million including add-ons for the 24-year-old.
Argentine forward Castellanos was expected to undergo a medical in Rome early this week before joining up with his new team-mates for pre-season training ahead of the new Serie A campaign.
The former Girona player’s entourage have been in Italy in recent days for talks with the side from the Italian capital.
Long-term Lazio deal
At the beginning of the year, Castellanos was sounded out by Argentine giants River Plate but is now ready to sign a deal with the Italian team for five seasons after a good campaign with Girona in LaLiga.
In 2022-23, he played 37 games for Girona, where he led the line for Míchel’s side, scoring 14 goals.
MLS record
Castellanos will leave MLS side NYCFC as he looks to continue his career in Europe. The former Argentina Under-23 player scored 50 goals and registered 20 assists in 106 MLS games.
