Manchester United owner co-owner Avram Glazer reportedly splashed out on two flights on private jets to travel to watch his team play...at the Red Devils’ expense. The Glazer family are already extremely unpopular with fans of the Premier League club and this latest revelation will have done little to change that.

How much did Glazer bill United for two private flights?

According to The Athletic, Glazer twice spent £250,000 (circa $311,000) on trips to watch United games, the first of which was the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle in February, which the Manchester side won thanks to goals from Casemiro and Marcus Rashford.

He then took a second flight, at the same cost, for the women’s FA Cup final between United and Chelsea on 14 May. On this occasion, however, the Red Devils ended up on the losing side, Australian World Cup star Sam Kerr scoring the only goal.

A total of £500,000 (around $622,000) on travelling to two matches, all of which was billed to Manchester United.

Manchester United takeover latest

The Old Trafford faithful have long been unhappy with the way the Glazer family has run their club, although there is hope amongst fans that they will soon sell up.

The Americans have owned United for more than 18 years but announced last year that they were looking for outside investment, either in terms of a full or part sale. However, the potential takeover process has turned into a long, drawn-out saga, with two main bidders, Qatari billionaire Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, owner of chemicals company INEOS, so far unable to agree a deal with the Glazers. Talks are ongoing.
