The F.C. Barcelona launches its first NFT with a magnificent goal from Johan Cruyff

What better way to enter the NFT market than with a tribute to an absolute legend of the club and the very game of football itself.

FC Barcelona launch first NFT with Johan Cruyff ‘Golden Goal’

According to an official release from the club on Thursday, FC Barcelona has announced the upcoming launch of a one-of-a-kind non-fungible token (NFT) that will commemorate one of the club’s most significant moments. The NFT, “FC Barcelona: In A Way, Immortal”, is an audiovisual digital piece of artwork that recreates and pays homage to the late Johan Cruyff’s and his ‘impossible goal’ against Atletico Madrid in 1973, when the legendary No. 14 flung himself into the air in acrobatic fashion to meet the ball at the back post after a deep cross. Atleti’s goalkeeper, Miguel Reina could only watch haplessly as the ball flew into the net.

It’s truly fitting that such an iconic moment in the club’s history and the player’s career is now immortalized. A display of grit, physical prowess and the artisty that the Dutch maestro was well known for, it truly was the goal that gave birth to the moniker, ‘The Flying Dutchman.’ Expected to go on auction in a week’s time, the limited edition NFT will be unique, such that whoever finally gets their hands on it will know that its a 1 of 1 kind of deal.
