The PSG forward has been given a deadline by his current club to sign a new deal... or “the door” will open.

Kylian Mbappé is edging closer and closer to Real Madrid. The PSG player set the alarms off when it made made known on June 12 that his intention was not to renew with the French club to 2025. Despite this news not being a surprise anymore, the name of the forward is still on everyone’s lips. Questions regarding Mbappé overshadowed the welcoming press conference for incoming manager, Luis Enrique, after club president Nasser Al Khelaïfi said that “Kylian must decide in a week or two at most. If he doesn’t sign a new deal, the door is open.”

With that door ajar, the countdown of the summer can begin and some key dates are already known which help to map out a potential future for the player. Real Madrid restart their 23/24 preseason training on July 10, while Mbappé is due to return to PSG training a week later, on July 17.

When does Kylian Mbappé have to decide on his future?

Two days later, on July 19, everyone will be looking towards Paris, as that is the date given by Al Khelaïfi for Kylian Mbappé to say either yes or no to the ultimatum on whether to stay or not, although L’Équipe say that the player has until July 31. On July 22, PSG will travel to Japan for their summer tour where they will play against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr on the 25th and Cerezo Osaka on the 28th.

If Kylian Mbappé, by that point, is a Real Madrid player, for which Real Madrid will need to pay €200 million to PSG, he would be in the USA on the preseason tour with Los Blancos to play in his first Clásico on June 29 in Dallas, Texas. As well as the game against Barça, Madrid will also go up against AC Milan, Juventus and Manchester United.

When do PSG start the league season?

In the event that the story drags on, August 1 is going to be a fundamental date in the calendar. This is the day when Kylian Mbappé will receive the first part of his loyalty bonus from Paris Saint Germain... of €40 million! This is also the day when PSG will play in Osaka against Inter before returning to Europe the day after to continue their preparations.

On August 12/13 PSG begin the league season under Luis Enrique and it remains to be seen whether he will wear the navy blue of Paris or the white of Madrid, which would happen in LaLiga on August 12 vs Atheltic, August 19 vs Almería or August 27 vs Celta. Four days after, on August 31, the transfer market will slam shut and the Kylian Mbappé saga will be over. The tick-tock of the clock is getting more and more intense.
