The “shocking” video that changed Cristiano Ronaldo’s career
The Portuguese star is closing in on 1,000 career goals while balancing his football career with a booming online presence.

Cristiano Ronaldo is on the hunt for his first official trophy with Al Nassr. After defeating Karim Benzema’s Al Ittihad, his team reached the Saudi Super Cup final, where they will face Al Ahli on Saturday, August 23 in Hong Kong. Off the pitch, the all-time top scorer is celebrating the anniversary of the first video he uploaded to his YouTube channel.
At 40, Ronaldo is still pushing toward the 1,000-goal milestone – a record no other player has ever touched – and is determined to arrive in peak condition for the 2026 World Cup, which could be his final dance with Portugal. He didn’t score in the Super Cup semifinal but did set up his new teammate and fellow countryman, João Félix.

Cristiano Ronaldo, one year after becoming a YouTuber
Away from football, it’s been a year since Ronaldo stunned the internet with his first YouTube video, titled “When I met the most famous Cristiano”. Its description read: “Experience the shocking moment when Cristiano discovered his replica at Madame Tussauds. The first double SIUUU in history.” Today, that one-minute clip has racked up 37 million views.

Ronaldo launched his channel, Ur Cristiano, on August 21, 2024, and it has since grown to 76.5 million subscribers. Along the way, he even collaborated with MrBeast, YouTube’s dominant creator, producing his most watched video yet with 60 million views. While Ronaldo’s posting has slowed – his last upload came on June 28 – there’s little doubt he’ll break the internet again whenever he decides to return.
