The United States youth national team has a bright future ahead
Paxten Aaronson, the younger brother of Brenden, led the USYNT’s historic 10-0 win over St. Kitts and Nevis in the first match of the 2022 CONCACAF U20 Championship.
The future looks bright for the US Soccer Federation after the Under-20 men’s youth national team defeated St. Kitts and Nevis in the start of the 2022 CONCACAF U20 Championship on Saturday. The US team dominated and won 10-0, their second-highest goals tally ever at the tournament.
Paxten Aaronson a key player
Seven different players scored in the win over St. Kitts and Nevis with Paxten Aaronson, Brenden’s younger brother, scoring a brace. Also, five players made their international debut with the U20 team against the Sugar Boyz: namely Antonio Carrera, Noah Allen, Michael Halliday, Alejandro Alvarado Jr. and Niko Tsakiris.
The United States had full control of the game and the good news is that Tsakiris, Mauricio Cuevas, Rokas Pukstas, Cade Cowell and Tyler Wolff scored their first international goals for the United States in the win. For the first time in the history of the tournament the VAR was available for each match and it was used once by the referee to give the US a penalty that was scored by Caden Clark in the 33rd minute.
The youth team will return to action on 20 June when they face Canada and will finish the Group E activity two days later against Cuba. The tournament is being held in Honduras and all the games are going to be played at Estadio Nacional de Tegucigalpa.
