Former Arsenal and Barcelona forward Thierry Henry believes Vinícius Júnior is the best left-sided forward in the world.

Henry was asked on CBS Sports if Vinícius is the best in his position, and the Frenchman replied: “Yes. At the moment, yes. You have guys that are doing okay at Arsenal in the Premier League. [Gabriel} Martinelli is coming. But in the last two years, Vinícius Jr has been solid.”

Vinícius has seen astronomical growth at Real Madrid over the last couple of seasons, becoming one of the most devastating forwards in the world, and helping Madrid win LaLiga and the Champions League in the double-winning 2021-22 season.

Martinelli’s rise

His Brazilian compatriot Martinelli has also improved immensely over the past 12 months and is now one of Mikel Arteta’s key marksmen as Arsenal bid to win the Premier League title. The Brazilian has scored 14 times in the Premier League this season.

Vinícius in double figures for goals and assists

Vinícius, just 11 months older than Martinelli, has 21 goals and 16 assists in all competitions for Los Blancos this season and was instrumental in Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Chelsea in Madrid.
