Reports in Germany suggest that Bayern Munich have had a bid accepted for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.

The Bundesliga champions had submitted three previous offers for the 30-year-old this summer but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has been reluctant to allow the team’s talisman to leave the club.

The Athletic reports that Bayern’s latest bid has been accepted by the Premier League club, leaving Kane to decide if he is willing to make the move to Bavaria.

It is thought that Bayern’s fourth bid was worth around €100 million ($110m).

Last season Kane broke the all-time scoring records for both Tottenham Hotspur and the England national team. However he remains 47 goals short of the Premier League scoring record, currently held by Alan Shearer.

Will Harry Kane leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer?

It looks like Spurs have finally reached an agreement for the sale of Kane, but the transfer saga of the summer is far from over. The two teams have struck a deal for the transfer fee but Kane would also need to agree to the move, bringing to a close his 19-year association with Spurs.

Bayern appear willing to make Kane their highest earner, receiving the kind of salary previously given to Robert Lewandowski and Sadio Mane. Kane would be the focal point of the German champions’ attack if he decides to make the switch but Spurs’ preseason progress under new head coach Ange Postecoglou may have given him pause for thought.

Tottenham were eager to keep Kane as they begin life under Postecoglou, who joined the club from Celtic this summer, and the Australian admitted that Kane would play a key role if he were to stay at the club.

“I certainly hope so,” Postecoglou replied last month, when asked if he expected Kane to remin at Spurs. “It’s one of those things where, when you’re in this role, I’ve learned that you’ve got to deal with the certainties that are before you.”

However for Levy the economic situation is more complex. Kane’s contract expires next summer and he has shown little interest in extending it. Tottenham would risk losing their star asset for free next year unless the situation can be resolved.

It looks like, after a summer of hard negotiations, Levy is finally ready to strike a deal.
