Tottenham vs Manchester United preview

Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs will go into the game off the back of a terrible run of form that has pushed the club to the brink of crisis. Two weeks ago Tottenham conceded in the 95th minute to lose at home to relegation-threatened Bournemouth. They followed that up with a shocking 6-1 loss to Champions League rivals Newcastle United, conceding five goal in the opening 21 minutes.

After those poor performances chairman Daniel Levy decided that he had no choice but to part ways with interim manager Christian Stellini, who had been in the role for less than a month

Yet despite the upheaval Spurs have a talented squad and will look to get back on track against United on Thursday.

Manchester United

For the first time this season Manchester United have found themselves in something of an injury crisis with at least ten first team players unavailable for selection at some point in April.

Top scorer Marcus Rashford is now back in contention after missing games due to a hamstring injury, but Erik ten Hag’s side still have some major absences at the back. Defensive duo Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez were both substituted due to injury in the Europa League first leg draw with Sevilla.

Neither is close to a return so United will be significantly weakened in defence.

Tottenham vs Manchester United: prediction

A few weeks ago this fixture looked like a potential shoot-out for top four, but Spurs’ terrible recent form makes Champions League qualification extremely unlikely this season. United will hope that they can overpower a Spurs side low on confidence, but after a chastening defeat last time out the Tottenham players will be desperate for a result.

Prediction: Tottenham 1-1 Manchester United
