‘Tuca’ Ferretti shown exit door by Cruz Azul
For the first time in his career, the experienced 69-year-old coach has been dismissed by a club.
The brief era of Ricardo Ferretti at Cruz Azul is over. This Monday the side from the Mexican capital fired ‘Tuca’ after a poor start to the new season with ‘La Maquina’ failing to win game in both Liga MX and Leagues Cup.
Through a statement posted on Twitter, Cruz Azul announced the exit of Ricardo Ferretti after being eliminated in the round of 32 of the Leagues Cup on penalties against Charlotte. “Cruz Azul informs that, according to the results obtained in recent weeks, the decision has been made to end our employment relationship with coach Ricardo Ferretti.”
In that same text, Cruz Azul thanked him for the time dedicated to the team, highlighting his experience and confirmed that in the immediate future, Joaquín Moreno will oversee matters on a day to day basis.
‘Tuca’ had a short period at Cruz Azul, a team he joined in February 2023. In the Clausura 2023 his side reached the playoffs, where they were eliminated by Atlas. in the new 2023 Apertura season, Cruz Azul have lost three from three and prop up the Liga MX table and in the Leagues Cup they recorded two draws, one defeat and were eliminated on penalties by Charlotte in the Round of 32.
