USMNT players are making Italy’s Serie A their own

Five American players are registered in Serie A this season, all contributing significantly to their respective teams' success.

Led by the transformed Christian Pulisic, a standout for AC Milan, each of these players have registered at least one goal or assist over the course of the first nine match days.

Christian Pulisic is a key figure in the AC Milan forward line. He has started all eight Serie A matches this season, averaging over 70 minutes per game. So far, Pulisic has managed five goals and three assists, and has made a case for being Europe’s most in-form player.

USMNT shining in Serie A

Also contributing in Milan’s squad is Yunus Musah, who has made an impact despite not being a regular starter under Paulo Fonseca. The midfielder has appeared in six matches, and in Milan’s opening game of the season, he assisted Noah Okafor in their 2-2 draw with Torino.

Gianluca Busio, a midfielder for Venezia, missed the first three matches of the season due to injury but returned in time for match day four. Upon his return, he quickly made his mark by scoring one of the goals that secured a 2-0 victory over Genoa, his ninth goal in a Venezia shirt.

Juventus’ Timothy Weah, who plays as a forward, has endured a challenging season, missing four of Juventus‘ nine games due to muscle and ankle injuries. However, he contributed both a goal and an assist in the season opener against Como, and most recently scored in Juventus’ thrilling 4-4 draw with Inter.

Weston McKennie, also at Juventus, has been gradually earning more playing time. Though he missed three games due to tactical decisions, he returned for the ninth match day after sitting out the previous one with muscle fatigue.

McKennie shone in the 4-4 draw against Inter, providing two assists for goals by Dušan Vlahović and Kenan Yıldız. Until this match, McKennie was the only American without a goal or assist this season.
