USMNT vs Colombia preview

USMNT

Team USA will try to bounce back from their 1-2 defeat to Serbia when they host Colombia at Dignity Health Sports Park, in California.

Despite playing at a high level in the Qatar World Cup, where the USMNT were eliminated in the round of 16 by the Netherlands, this is a different squad, as many players made their debut in international soccer with the senior team.

Against the Serbs, the USA, with eight new players featuring in the starting XI for the first time, lost their first game on American soil in over three years.

The Stars and Stripes will try to break their negative run against Colombia, as they have been defeated in their last four games against the South Americans and the last time they beat them was back in 2005.

Colombia

Los Cafeteros go into the match having won three consecutive fixtures, with four clean sheets in their last six games in all competitions.

As it usually happens, these friendly clashes are a good chance for new and young players to perform at an international level, and new Colombia coach Néstor Lorenzo has called up 11 players who haven’t still played with the senior squad.

The South Americans have won their last six matches versus CONCACAF opponents and are unbeaten in the region since losing to Costa Rica in 2016.

USMNT vs Colombia: prediction

Both sides will be looking for the win despite being a friendly game, with many young talented prospects willing to make a good performance, so it may be ending up being a close-contested game.
