Paris celebrations largely peaceful despite security concerns
Authorities had prepared for possible unrest in Paris, deploying more than 20,000 police officers across the French capital ahead of the celebrations.
Despite those concerns, the night passed without major incidents. Police made only 10 arrests, and officials said there were no other serious incidents reported during the celebrations.
According to the Paris Police Prefecture, the celebrations remained largely calm, although tensions briefly escalated in the city’s 7th arrondissement, where a fight broke out between fans. One person suffered minor injuries after being stabbed.
Tensions reported in London after France-Morocco match
Celebrations were more tense in London, where clashes broke out between some fans and police officers on Edgware Road, a major street in northwest London.
One police officer was injured during the unrest, while four people were arrested for public disorder and causing disturbances following the end of the France-Morocco match.
