The USMNT are preparing for their second match of the Copa América 2024. As the hosts, they will look to build on the strong start to the tournament that saw them overcome a resilient but ultimately flawed Bolivia side 2-0 with goals from Christian Pulisic and Folarin Balogun.

On the night, it was Pulisic who stood up and was counted, so much so that debate has raged all week long as to whether or not ‘Captain America’, who is going through a sensational vein of form, is the best player the United States have ever produced.

Are the USA through if they win?

Uruguay, Panama and Bolivia make up the rest of Group C in the Copa América this year: despite the difficulties on paper, it is a group that the side led by Berhalter should at least try to top. Bielsa’s Uruguay look like an ominous threat who will undoubtedly provide a true test when the time comes, but for now the USMNT should be confident in getting to the knockout rounds.

A win at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia would put the US on 6 points from a possible 6 and in a hugely beneficial position to get out of the group. It would depend on the result in the other game, but not getting through on 6 points would be a freak event.

As a result, it seems clear that Berhalter has no choice but to field his strongest side as they look to get past a Panama side who will be fighting for survival in the competition.

So, the question remains: does Berhalter stick with what worked last time out against Bolivia, or twist and opt for fresh legs?

At this moment, it seems as though Berhalter will go with the former, and stick with what he knows best and what worked so well against the Bolivians. As such, this is the XI we expect:
