USMNT’s first international friendly leaked: Unofficial opponent and date revealed

Get over them, don’t even think about them. It’s a new you and a time to redo your image, reset yourself, and go again. They hurt you but it’s OK, you look better than even and, to be honest, you’re better off without the pressure.

The United States went into the World Cup with the pressure of 340 million people expecting to see them go far. And they did; as far as they realistically could. It wasn’t a shock to see them pummelled by Belgium and knocked out at the first real hurdle, but the pain is still there, it is raw, and the best way to get rid of it is to keep going.

And to keep going, they’re reportedly going to play neighbours Mexico in a game during the October international break.

TUDN journalist Gibrán Araige revealed the news on Twitter, posting the upcoming friendlies for the Mexican National Team before their official announcement. He revealed that Javier Aguirre’s side will play four games before the end of the year, including the headline match against the United States.

Mexico will reportedly return to action during the September and October international window with four friendlies across the United States. El Tri will open against Colombia in Baltimore on 26 September before facing Peru at Red Bull Arena in New York on 29 September. Javier Aguirre’s side will then take on the United States in Phoenix on 3 October before concluding the tour against Chile at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on 6 October.

What’s not known is whether or not Mauricio Pochettino, who guided the USMNT to a round-of-16 finish at the World Cup, will be in charge. The former Newell’s Old Boys defender has not yet signed the proposed deal that is on the table from US Soccer, with reports linking him with moves elsewhere, including AC Milan and even World Cup finalists Argentina, his home nation.
