Real Madrid recently announced that Brazilian winger Vinicius Jr will be out of action for around 3 weeks with a hamstring injury, meaning he will miss his side’s crunch clash in the UEFA Champions League against Liverpool.

A return date has already been pencilled in for the player, with December 18, the Intercontinental Cup final, the match when many expect him to be back fit and firing in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.

The player, while he showed no signs of injury in Madrid’s win against CD Leganés, has taken to Twitter to blame the dense fixture list for his physical issue.

“The crazy calendar...” wrote Vinicius Jr on social media site, adding “it’s time to recover”. Many players have come out against the increasing number of games for elite players in a season, with severe injuries taking their toll on a number of the game’s top talents.

Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal is one of them, as is the current holder of the Ballon d’Or, Rodri - both are out with season-ending injuries suffered earlier in the season and both have previously spoken about the tough fixture list becoming even harder to cope with.

As for Vinicius, he will have to watch his teammates from the sidelines for the upcoming weeks as they look to catch FC Barcelona at the top of LaLiga and begin to find some much-needed form in the new-look Champions League, which has them only in the playoff places for the next round of the competition.
