COPA DEL REY

Vinicius sends Atlético haters a message after Real Madrid win

The Brazilian was the target of some vile abuse from some rival fans, but had a strong capital message in response.

In the run-up to the Copa del Rey duel between Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid, the Spanish capital woke up with a banner near Los Blancos training ground in Valdebebas reading, ‘Madrid hates Real’. Next to it hung a mannequin from the bridge with Vinicius’s shirt on. Truly vile to anyone with sense.

Vinicius responds after Madrid derby

The ‘20′ returned to being the protagonist in the capital derby, responding on the pitch. With stoppage time already up and the rojiblancos on the canvas, the Brazilian added a gloss to the final score, making it 3-1. That ensured Carlo Ancelotti’s team certified their ticket to the Copa del Rey semifinals.

Vini was also involved in the first yellow card picked up by Savic which, minutes later, ended in the expulsion of the Montenegrin. He also, accidentally, provided an assist for Benzema to make it 2-1, before waltzing through a dejected and tired Leti backline for his first ever goal against the neighbours, bringing the Santiago Bernabéu to its collective feet.

So Vinícius showed his face on the pitch... but also off it a short while after.

Once the match was over, the Brazilian posted a message on his social media accounts as a clear response to the disgusting gesture of the morning.

“There is only one Madrid. Everyone knows.”

And minutes later, he published “Vini AMA MADRID”, Vini loves Madrid.
