Weston McKennie could leave Juventus if Paul Pogba arrives
The Serie A side is trying to bring the French midfielder back next season and this could make McKennie leave during the summer transfer market.
Paul Pogba is not happy at Manchester United and he has been linked to a return to Juventus next season. The French midfielder will become a free agent in the next few weeks and the Serie A is open for his return during the summer transfer window.
McKennie to be sacrificed
This means that Juventus would have to let go of one midfielder to make space for the arrival of Pogba and Weston McKennie could be the player to be sacrificed. According to multiple reports, negotiations between the Serie A side and Pogba have started and an agreement could be reached very soon.
The American midfielder joined the Old Lady in the summer of 2020 and he’s had two successful seasons. This year he scored four goals and made a total of 28 appearances across all competitions with Juventus, earning the trust of Massimiliano Allegri, who took over the managerial job this season.
The Texas native has been linked to several clubs since the January transfer window because he broke the coronavirus protocols with club and country during the pandemic. This didn’t sit well with Allegri and the people in charge and they were willing to accept serious offers during the winter.
According to transfermarkt, McKennie’s value is close to $30 million and Juve are keen to ensure any team interested in signing him has to pay that amount. Earlier this year it was reported that Tottenham Hotspur did place a bid to sign him, but at the end the offer was not accepted by Juventus.
