LAFC with big advantage
There are four MLS sides left in the tournament, and at the moment it’s looking like LAFC is the closest to the next round after the first batch of games. The Californian side have a chance to the the first ones to put their name in the semifinal bracket if they can defend their three goal lead tonight away from home.
They might have a big cushion after the first leg, but they know they are going to have to do it against one of the winningest teams in this competition. The seven time champions, and defending champions, Cruz Azul will be looking to pull a shocking comeback in front of their home fans, but they will have to do it against an LAFC side that is currently rolling in the MLS and in the CCC.

LAFC are 5-1-1 in the league, and have yet to lose in the CCC. They have a sensational attack led by Son Heung-Min and David Martinez, and their defense has allowed just 2 goals in the MLS and three in the CCC. Now Marc Dos Santos teams heads into the Cuauhtemoc looking to keep their fantastic run to start the season going and qualify for the final four of the tournament.
Winner awaits Galaxy or Toluca
After two runner up bids in 2020 and 2023, LAFC have a chance to get back to the final, but first they are going to have to get past the Mexican giants who have plenty of experience in this tournament. If Cruz Azul is going to have a chance they are going to need some magic from top scorer Gabriel Fernandez and Luka Romero. Fernandez has 13 goals in the league while Romero is their top scorer in the CCC with three.
