Kylian Mbappé spoke to the media after Paris Saint-Germain’s defeat to Bayern Munich in the last 16 of the Champions League and once again left the possibility of him leaving the club up in the air, despite the fact that he has a contract until 2024. “We are disappointed... until when (will I be here)? I don’t know, I’m only talking about this season for now, I don’t care about anything else. We lost against a great team but we still have the league to play for and we hope to win it. My future? I’m relaxed about it, the only thing that matters to me is winning the league. I’m talking about this season and then we’ll see”.

The PSG superstar also gave his thoughts on another elimination for the Parisian club in the Champions League round of 16: “We have to keep going and try to achieve our goals. They have a team that is built to win the Champions League. We will talk to each other and we will get back to our bread and butter that is the league championship”, he said.

PSG’s disappointing Champions League record

Despite spending well over $1 billion on players since Qatar Sports Investments took charge of the club, PSG have struggled to make their mark in the Champions League and have suffered some painful defeats along the way, including a 6-1 second-leg hammering away to Barcelona in the last 16 in 2017 after they had won the first leg 4-0 in Paris. The Ligue 1 leaders have lost in the round of 16 in four of the last six seasons and have only progressed beyond the quarter-finals twice (one semi-final and one final) since QSI arrived in 2011.

How many trophies has Kylian Mbappé won at PSG?

Despite only being 24, Mbappé became PSG’s all-time top scorer in the league victory over Nantes last weekend. He has scored 201 goals in 248 matches since joining the club in 2017 and has won four Ligue 1 titles, three French Cups and two League Cups. However, the Parisians’ consistent failure in the Champions League has led to constant speculations about a move away from the club, with Real Madrid seemingly the most likely destination
