Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn has acknowledged the club is “dissatisfied” with the team’s poor run of Bundesliga results, but insisted the Bavarian giants still have faith in coach Julian Nagelsmann amid rumours of a move to bring former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel to the Allianz Arena.
Bayern’s 1-0 loss to Augsburg on Saturday was the first time in 87 games that Bayern had failed to score in a league fixture and the first time in 20 years that they have gone four Bundesliga games without winning.
Bayern, fifth in the Bundesliga, will host Bayer Leverkusen on September 30 and Kahn urged the team to respond with an attack. “We are not dealing with any other coach now. We are totally confident in Julian,” Kahn told Sky Sports on Sunday.
Despite Bayern’s Bundesliga woes, Nagelsmann has engineered two wins in the Champions League to ensure his side tops Group C - the “group of death” that also features Inter Milan and Barcelona.
Kahn: “We have to get to the bottom of this”
“Of course we are all dissatisfied and in a bad mood. We have to get to the bottom of this. And assuming that as soon as the match against Leverkusen starts we have to go on the attack completely,” said Kahn.
“Maybe the belief has taken root in one or two people that you can do the Bundesliga on the side. But that is not the case.”
