A frenetic clásico capitalino was played out at the Estadio Azteca with the two teams ending the game with a goal each. The game had everything and the controversy was not far away, especially when Pumas manager was sent off after arguing with the fourth official. The Argentinian manager refused to leave and minutes later he headed towards the dressing rooms, but not before making a gesture towards the América fans.

Mohamed and Club América have their shared history ever since 2014 when he was appointed manager of the team. The Argentinian was there for a year, a time in which he was crowned champion of the Liga MX Apertura 2014. However, despite winning the championship, the board decided not to continue with his services after a breakdown in relationships.

Nine years on, Mohamed does not forget that sacking and reminded the fans of his anger. Cameras at the ground caught the moment in which Mohamed turned to head towards the dressing rooms after being sent off. On his way down, the fans began to shout at him, to which he replied with a pointed finger at his chest and the floor that he once made them happy at the ground at which he was now being insulted.

In the Apertura 2019, Antonio Mohamed won another title at the Estadio Azteca, but this time with Monterrey. Los Rayados took away title number 14 from América in a penalty shootout in one of the most exciting finals in recent memory.
