Ronaldinho has just been announced as a new player in the Kings League, but who are the others?

Ex-Brazil star winger Ronaldinho has just been announced as the newest signing to a long list of ex-professional footballers to play in Gerard Piqué's football tournament, the Kings League. Ronaldinho will play for Porcinos FC, a team led by Twitch sensation, Ibai Llanos. The tournament is a 7-a-side football league with various teams, many of which have ex-players behind them.

Which MLS players have played in the Kings League?

Javier Chicharito Hernández is one of the star names that has been attracted to play in the tournament, as he signed for Porcino FC in November 2022, saying “I don’t have any games until the 25th of February with LA Galaxy. It’s something we can talk about, my agent will have to get involved a bit because I’m an employee of one of the biggest clubs in MLS but we can negotiate and try it! It’d be so cool to pull this off, I really appreciate it!”

Which other ex-footballers have played in the Kings League?

Javier Saviola and Sergio Agüero are the two most famous Argentinians to have featured in the tournament, having played for Agüero’s side Kunisports. Saviola’s signing was announced in January of 2023 and in his first game he played against ex-Espanyol striker Raúl Tamudo, famous in LaLiga for his Tamudazo, a goal against FC Barcelona in 2007 that gave the title to Real Madrid.

As well as these, World Cup winner Joan Capdevila has played in the Kings League, for Saiyans FC, while Sergio García and Rubén de la Red play for Ultimate Móstoles. Ex-Celta Vigo winger, Fabián Orellana, plays for XBUYER TEAM. Ex-Real Madrid winger Alberto Bueno plays for the team run by Iker Casillas, 1K FC, and is the current top goalscorer in the league, with 9 in 7 matches played.

The season started on 1 January 2023 and is scheduled to end on 26 March 2023.
