Jude Bellingham is expected to be fit to face Barcelona this weekend, despite going off with a groin problem in Real Madrid’s Champions League win over Braga on Tuesday.

“Bellingham is fine”

The 20-year-old had to be replaced by Lucas Vázquez late on in Portugal, but Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has calmed fears that the midfielder could miss the first Clásico of the campaign.

“Bellingham is fine,” Ancelotti said post-match at the Estádio Municipal de Braga. “His adductor is a bit overloaded due to the state of the pitch, which was a bit soft.

He’ll be fine, he’ll be fit [to play against Barça]. He’s a bit tired but it’s normal.”

Madrid, who lead LaLiga ahead of Girona on goal difference, visit defending champions Barça on Saturday on matchday 11 of the league campaign.

Barça lie third in the Spanish top flight, one point behind their arch rivals.

Before being substituted on Tuesday, Bellingham netted the goal that ultimately secured Madrid their third win in three games in Champions League Group C.

Rodrygo Goes gave Ancelotti’s men the lead with a close-range strike after 15 minutes, before Bellingham doubled the visitors’ advantage on the hour mark, bending a precision finish into the corner from the edge of the box.

The goal was his third in three Champions League appearances for Madrid, and his 11th in 12 games in all competitions since he moved to the Spanish capital from Borussia Dortmund.

Two minutes after Madrid’s second, Álvaro Djaló pulled one back for Braga.
