San Francisco plays host in the second chapter of Real Madrid’s pre-season tour of the United States with Ancelotti’s men looking to bounce back following defeat at the hands of FC Barcelona in Las Vegas on Saturday. ‘Los Blancos’ will face Mexican giants Club América in the penultimate pre-season game before the UEFA Super Cup final against Eintracht Frankfurt in Helsinki on 10 August. Monday’s training session had a couple of nervy moments as both Benzema and Mendy needed medical attention but everything points to the French striker being able to participate in the game which will take place at the home of the San Francisco Giants MLB side.
We have the confirmed starting lineup for tonight’s game against Club America. Benzema is on the list!
Ancelotti already stated to the media that Benzema would play “45 minutes” against Las Águilas with Hazard expected to return to the left. Vinicius is expected to be on the bench in San Francisco but is expected to start in the next game against Juve, where the Italian coach will have chosen his eleven starters for the Super Cup. Marco Asensio is expected to operate on the right tonight after the man from Mallorca showed positive flashes in the Vegas game against FC Barcelona.
Tchouameni is expected to start in midfield with Casemiro expected to start in the Juve game and Super Cup final. Ancelotti is keen that the former Monaco man to get playing time alongside the likes of stalwarts such as Toni Kroos, who came on in the second half against Barcelona with Modric likely to make an appearance tonight in the second half. Dani Ceballos was one of the standout players from the defeat to Barça and is expected to be rewarded with a place in the starting XI as a result.
Possible RM XI
Lunin is set to man the sticks giving Courtois, Madrid’s best player from the Vegas game a rest. Ferland Mendy is a major doubt with Nacho expected to line-up with new signing Antonio Rüdiger in the heart of the Madrid defence and David Alaba will man the left back position. The final possible XI for Carlo Ancelotti for the San Francisco test against Club América is expected to see starts for: Lunin; Vinicius Tobias, Nacho, Rüdiger, Alaba; Ceballos, Tchouameni, Kroos; Asensio, Benzema and Hazard.
