LIGA MX
What signings will Liga MX teams make in January? Pumas, Club América, Cruz Azul, Chivas...
América, after conquering the league and winning their 14th title, are on the hunt for new players, but they are not alone...
Christmas is a time of magic, fun and joy - but what might Liga MX teams ask for at this time of the year? Here are some possible presents for some teams ahead of the Clausura 2024, which will begin on January 12.
Club América
No, Club América fans, it was not a dream: league title number 14 has finally arrived. What América is asking for is simple: more trophies. To do so, they will need an even larger squad list, and André Jardine’s team want both Gerardo Arteaga from the Belgian league, and Santos player Omar Campos. We will have to wait and see if they bring in a star signing, as their ambitious Brazilian manager still dreams of bringing a world-class level footballer.
Cruz Azul
Martín Anselmi has arrived at Cruz Azul and with him comes the hope of achieving trophies with the squad; the manager will have two new players right from his arrival: Camilo Cándido and Gonzalo Piovi. Goalkeeper Moisés Ramírez and former Pumas player Gabriel “Toro” Fernández will arrive, but the club from La Noria needs personality, status and a winning mentality; Los Cementeros do not deserve to stagnate and they will ask a lot of the players they do bring in.
Pumas
Piero Quispe seems to be the dream of the Pumas squad. The player considered the best player in the Peruvian First Division would be a great Christmas present for Gustavo Lema’s men, who will need to learn to win without Antonio Mohamed. After losing ‘Toro’ Fernández, one of Pumas’ gifts would be Guillermo Martínez, who scored 11 goals for Puebla last season.
Chivas
Fernando Gago, a manager with a huge personality, is a very promising present that has arrived from South America. Discipline is the first Christmas present that Chivas should have for the following season. In terms of reinforcements, the new coach of Rebaño Sagrado has already made his list, although it will not be easy. The red-and-white team will fight with América for Gerardo Arteaga, in addition to looking for other options to strengthen the squad.
