What will happen to Jurgen Klopp after losing to Brighton?
Liverpool has been eliminated from all competitions except the Champions League. Jurgen Klopp is under fire after their recent loss against Brighton.
Former European and Premier League champions under Klopp’s stewardship are now ninth in the league, 21 points behind leaders Arsenal, after losing eight games so far this season.
While they did win the domestic cup double last season, Liverpool lost out on the league crown to Manchester City and the Champions League to Real Madrid in the final.
As for Klopp’s future, what has he said about it?
The German manager Jurgen Klopp has said, “I didn’t become a poor manager overnight. Neither was I ever as excellent as they claimed.”
The team seems to back up his manager for now. The German‘s future doesn’t seem likely to change anytime soon. But the credit is running out.
FA Cup: Brighton 2 - 1 Liverpool
Due to their continued poor performance, Jurgen Klopp’s team has been eliminated now from the FA Cup and Carabao Cup tournaments. At the same time, the Premier League seems almost impossible that they can win it at this point, being 21 points behind Arsenal.
The current holders were eliminated as a late winner from Kaoru Mitoma sent Seagulls through to the next round.
The Reds have lost five of their previous seven fourth-round matches, and only Wolves (30) and Sheffield United (28) have been eliminated more often in the fourth round under the current tournament structure than the team from Anfield (27).
Following the game, Klopp voiced his displeasure with English football and the way the schedule’s many events are being organized.
“Given how packed our calendar already is, I’m not convinced the FA Cup should even have a weekend matchday, but there it is. And so, we make do. Preparation is useful, but it adds more work to your plate.”
