When and where is the CONCACAF Nations League semifinal played?

The four nations that reach the semifinals know that they have secured a Copa América ticket but, first things first, a title is at stake.

Fans across North and Central America have been glued to their seats and/or screens over recent days as the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Nations League have played out. Solid wins from the United States and Panama in the first legs (both 3-0) put them in pole position to make it into the final four, and sure enough the ties were put to bed in the second. We then saw Mexico and Jamaica come from first leg defeats to beat Honduras and Canada respectively and progress.

With the final four having their places secured in the semifinals (as well as a place in the 2024 Copa América), thoughts are already turning to those games. CONCACAF announced earlier in the month that the 2023-24 Nations League Finals will be held at the iconic AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas, notably home to the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys and a venue for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

How does the CONCACAF Nations League semifinal and final work?

When the four victors of the quarterfinals vie for glory in Dallas, this will begin with the semifinals scheduled for Thursday 21 March 2024. The matchups for these games will be determined by the results of the two-legged quarters, teams ranked 1-4 based on points first (three points for a win, one for a draw), with goal difference taken into account as required.

The winners will battle it out in the final on Sunday 24 March in the Arlington stadium, as will the two losing semifinalists for third place: same day, same place. The USMNT prevailed over Canada 2-0 in the last final, held in Las Vegas, and there will be plenty of national pride on the line once again come next March.

When and where are the Copa América play-in matches?

That same international break will also be used for the Copa América play-in matches, although these will be in Frisco, at the Toyota Stadium. The home of MLS side FC Dallas will welcome the losing teams in the CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinals - Canada, Honduras, Trinidad & Tobago and Costa Rica - on Saturday 23 March with the pairings determined by CONCACAF national team rankings as of November 2023.

The two winners of these games will take the federation’s final two of six coveted spots in the summer tournament.
