We’ve reached the halfway point of the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers as all ten nations in the region battle it out for six of the guaranteed top spots that secure a ticket to the 2026 World Cup with the seventh placed side heading to an intercontinental playoff in search of a berth at football’s biggest event in two years time.

As things stand at this juncture, World Cup and Copa America holders Argentina top the standings having won six games, drawn one and lost two so far with Colombia and Uruguay snapping at their heels.

Bolivia, led by Óscar Villegas are one of the CONMEBOL form teams at present having secured three consecutive victories that have put La Verde fully in the fight for one of the six places that give direct access to the World Cup.

The Albiceleste come into the match after a 1-1 draw in Venezuela and start the game at River Plate’s Monumental stadium in Buenos Aires as favourites, while Bolivia beat Colombia 1-0 thanks to a goal from Miguelito, who has scored in his team’s last three victories.
