Neymar has returned to training with Al-Hilal to continue his physical recovery. The footballer underwent surgery on his left knee in November of last year. Meanwhile, his teammates are on the preseason tour that their club is carrying out in Europe.

In October 2023, Brazil faced Uruguay at the Centenario Stadium. It was here where the Canarinha number ‘10′ fell to the grass after a strong collision with De la Cruz just before half-time, immediately showing clear signs of pain in his knee. After undergoing scans with team doctors, a statement on his social networks confirmed the worst news: a torn anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus.

When will Neymar recover from his injury?

The attacker missed the remainder of the season and the 2024 Copa América. Jorge Jesús, his coach in Saudi Arabia, gave an update on his situation last May, asking the fans for calm and pointed out a month for his return: September.

Last season, he only played five games for his club. However, despite the lack of minutes, he scored a goal and provided two assists. Despite not being present on the playing field, Al-Hilal managed to become champions of the Saudi league, winning the Saudi Super Cup and the Saudi King’s Cup as well. Neymar wanted to show his commitment to the team, and was present at all the celebrations.

However, the situation in the Brazilian National Team has been totally different. His absence has been clear in the performances they have put together in recent the Copa América. The team failed to convince their fans and a shower of criticism was quickly generated, directed at those they believed should take on the leadership role. Some former Brazil players even attacked Vinícius Jr and Rodrygo.

Marcelo BIelsa’s Uruguay knocked Brazil out of the recent Copa América at the quarter-final stage. A 0-0 draw went to penalties and in the end, la Celeste came out victorious, adding another year to the trophy drought that the Brazilians are going through in the modern era. Ney, it seems, is still needed.
