When will the last two spots for the Copa América 2024 be decided? Game dates and times

With the draw for the CONMEBOL competition confirming the group stage games, we still require the two final participants to complete the picture.

2024 Copa América playoffs

We already know the names of the teams taking part in the 2024 Copa América and which pot they will be placed in for the group stage draw which will be held on Thursday in Miami. Following this selection process, we will then know who plays who to determine the nations that progress into the knockout phase. As well as this, things are really coming together, we also learned on Monday how the stadium allocation would be for next summer’s tournament.

So what key information is still outstanding? Well, the small matter of the final two names to participate, and they’ll be confirmed in the playoffs.

Copa América draw: pots

As is normal in these proceedings, the top teams have been kept apart.Argentina, the reigning Copa América champions, will lead Group A in the upcoming tournament. Group B will be headed by Mexico, the current champions of the CONCACAF Gold Cup. The United States, ranked 14th in the latest FIFA rankings, has earned a seeded position in Group C, recognized by CONMEBOL as the top team in CONCACAF. Group D will be guided by Brazil, acknowledged as the top team in CONMEBOL according to the FIFA world rankings.

The rest of the nations have been split based on rankings across the other pots with the final two in Pot 4 decided by the playoffs. Those playoffs are:

CONCACAF 5: Trinidad and Tobago or Canada

CONCACAF 6: Honduras or Costa Rica

The winners of each playoff will be heading to Copa América 2024, already very aware of what games lie ahead.

When are the 2024 Copa América playoffs?

The above playoff games are both scheduled to be played on Saturday 23 March 2024. Times of these games are yet to be announced.

Argentina (A1), Mexico (B1), United States (C1), Brazil (D1)

Uruguay, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru

Pot 3

Chile, Panama, Venezuela, Paraguay

Pot 4

Jamaica, Bolivia, CONCACAF 5 (Trinidad and Tobago or Canada) and CONCACAF 6 (Honduras or Costa Rica).
