Getafe presented their new kits for the 2022-23 LaLiga season on Wednesday. When club president Ángel Torres took the stage, Gareth Bale was mentioned.

“A short time ago I spoke to his agent and they have offered him [Bale] to us. It is a possibility. I will discuss it with the sporting director and the head coach,” Torres said.

“It depends on the desire of the player and Quique [Sánchez Flores]. We have to change the team and add speed to it. We are working on it.”

Torres visits Madrid clubs

After Tuesday’s visit to Real Madrid’s Valdebebas, the Getafe president explained that it is a habit at the end of each season.

“I have the habit of visiting Real Madrid and Atlético [Madrid] to see if I can catch something. Many interesting names came up and in a few days, I will also talk to Miguel Ángel Gil to see if we can help each other.

“We already had an agreement with Mariano [Díaz] last year and it could be that we’ll go after him again. I would like Borja Mayoral to stay here.”

Atlético Madrid have also reportedly been offered the chance to sign Gareth Bale this summer.

Bale, 32, recently waved goodbye to Real Madrid supporters at the club’s Champions League celebrations at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Wales going to Qatar

The Welshman has helped guide Wales to this winter’s World Cup in Qatar. It will be Wales’ first time at the tournament in 64 years.

Bale has been living in Madrid for the past nine years and is said to be happy in the Spanish capital alongside his family and children.

Getafe and Atlético are both near his current residence and would allow him to stay in Spain, where his children are growing up.

He will now look for a team in order to stay fit ahead of one of the biggest years in Wales’ football history.

Cardiff option

A move to the MLS has also been mentioned for Bale, as well as to the Championship, where his hometown club Cardiff City currently play.

Bale’s priority will be the World Cup but he will have no shortage of suitors over the coming weeks to help him prepare for the world’s biggest stage at the end of the year.
