Monterrey are, after their various summer signings, the most valuable team in Liga MX, overtaking league rivals Club América.

On June 21, Los Rayados beat Club América 0-1 away from home and now they have come back to win again, this time off the pitch. Fernando Ortiz’s side are now the most valuable team in Liga MX after having signed Jesús Manuel Corona from Sevilla after the player was placed on the transfer list at the end of the window.

The Mexican’s arrival to Monterrey brings their squad value up to around €88 million ($89 million), according to football website Transfermarkt. Corona is second in the list of squad value after Spanish midfielder, Sergio Canales, who they signed from Real Betis for €15 million.

Who is América’s most valuable player?

With just a few signings, Monterrey left América behind in the rankings, going above them by a small amount. Las Águilas reportedly have a squad value of around €84 million, with Julián Quiñones their most expensive player.

The winger moved from Atlas to Club América and has been strongly linked with the Mexican National Team, and appears to be on his way to train with the side under the orders of manager, Jaime Lozano, who is said to be keen on incorporating the player into the squad at the earliest opportunity.
