The 2022-23 Premier League season came to an end on Sunday with the European places now confirmed for next season.

The four Champions League spots were already wrapped up going into the final day, with Manchester City, Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle United finishing in the top four.

Liverpool and Brighton

Liverpool finish the season in fifth place with 67 points, four less than Newcastle, and five more than Brighton, who end their spectacular campaign in sixth and will join Liverpool in the Europa League next season.

Jurgen Klopp’s side played out an entertaining 4-4 draw away to already relegated Southampton, while Brighton lost 2-1 away to Aston Villa.

Villa back in Europe

Over a decade later, Aston Villa are back in Europe and clinched the final European spot in the Premier League with their win over Brighton at Villa Park.

Villa picked up 49 points from 25 games under European expert Unai Emery, who took the side away from the relegation zone to go on an impressive run, and Villa fans can now look forward to a European adventure next season.

Spurs miss out

Tottenham and Brentford had the possibility of booking a place in Europe and despite winning their final games, they miss out after Villa’s victory.
