he news was confirmed on Sunday morning, when an operation led by the head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch, ended the life of one of the most wanted criminals in recent history. As often happens in events of this magnitude, waves of violence have followed, disrupting public life across the region. The first cancellations have already been confirmed.

Tapatío vs Tlaxcala, Liga Expansión

This was the first event to be cancelled due to the violence in Guadalajara. The match between Tapatío, Chivas’ affiliate, and Tlaxcala, corresponding to Matchday 7 of the championship and originally scheduled for 4:00 p.m., was suspended. The game will instead be played tomorrow at a time yet to be confirmed.

Women’s Clásico Nacional: Chivas vs América

Minutes after the Liga Expansión announcement, Liga MX Femenil also confirmed the cancellation of the Women’s Clásico Nacional. The match, initially set for 5:00 p.m. this afternoon, will be rescheduled, with a new date and venue to be announced soon.

‘Vía RecreActiva’ programme in Guadalajara

The weekly Sunday programme, which closes roads in Guadalajara to vehicular traffic to promote cycling and walking between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., was also cancelled for this weekend.

Horse Festival in Tlajomulco

The municipal government of Tlajomulco announced that, as a safety precaution, it is temporarily suspending public events, including activities related to the International Horse and Charrería Festival.
