The comprehensive analysis of the Liga MX’s competitions reveals that the Rayados del Monterrey, Águilas del América, and Chivas del Guadalajara teams occupied the top three positions in both the men’s and women’s categories. This highlights the remarkable performance of these clubs, as it demonstrates that their focus extends beyond the previously-dominant men’s teams in Liga MX. Their planning encompasses the women’s category and, in several cases, the youth divisions.

Liga MX: men’s and women’s leagues compared

Monterrey sets an exemplary record in points by dominating both the men’s and women’s competition of Liga MX. It’s worth noting, however, that they were unable to secure the championship title in either category. They accumulated a total of 79 points, with 40 points in the Liga MX and 39 points in the women’s league. This was a result of playing 34 games, achieving 25 victories, four draws, and five losses. Their impressive goal tally stood at 81, while they conceded 29 goals.

America follows closely in second place, finishing as the runner-up in both the men’s and women’s categories. The women’s team, however, successfully claimed the sub-leader position by securing their second league title in history. The first title was won with the Apertura 2018, and the second was achieved in the recently concluded Clausura 2023. Overall, the Águilas accumulated 71 points, with 34 points from the men’s team led by Argentine coach Fernando Ortiz and 37 points from the women’s team. They achieved 20 wins, 11 draws, and three losses in their campaign.

Chivas del Guadalajara also secured third place in both categories, accumulating 71 points in total. They achieved 34 points in the men’s category and 37 points in the women’s category, with 21 wins, eight draws, and five losses.

The other two renowned clubs in Mexican soccer, Cruz Azul and Pumas, fell significantly behind. They failed to qualify for the quarterfinals and finished in tenth place overall with 43 points.

Cruz Azul garnered 18 points in the men’s category and 25 points in the women’s category. The team’s performance was lackluster, accumulating only 37 points across both categories, with 24 points in the men’s team and a mere 13 points in the women’s team. These numbers clearly reflect the success or shortcomings of each club.
