Who is Fafà Picault, Inter Miami’s new signing? Contract details, position
The Fort Lauderdale franchise entered the market to find a replacement for Leonardo Campana. Picault, 33, has years of experience in MLS.
Inter Miami continue rebuilding the roster for the new season - one in which Javier Mascherano’s team will be competing for five trophies.
The Argentine coach has spent his first few weeks in the job identifying which areas require strengthening ahead of the new campaign. So far, 14 players have left - one of the most recent being Leonardo Campana, who joined the New England Revolution on a three-year deal earlier this month.
Campana’s departure leaves a vacancy that urgently needed to be filled. Despite playing a secondary role last season, the Ecuadorian striker scored nine goals in 35 appearances for the Herons - a huge contribution while Lionel Messi was out injured.
With Campana gone and Luis Suárez with just 12 months left to run on his contract, Miami had to bring in a striker to help out as they fight on five fronts in 2025.
Fafà Picault agrees a one-year deal with Inter Miami
The franchise announced today that Fabrice Jean “Fafà” Picault has joined on a one-year contract (until 31 December 2025) with the option of a second year. Picault arrives as a free agent after leaving the Vancouver Whitecaps, where he spent last season, scoring nine goals in 29 games.
The 33-year-old has plenty of experience in Major League Soccer and NASL, having spent time at Tampa Bay Rowdies, the Fort Lauderdale Strikers, FC Dallas, Houston Dynamo and the Philadelphia Union with whom he enjoyed his most successful spell of his career.
During his three seasons in Philly, he scored 22 goals in 100 appearances, helping the team reach the playoffs in his last two seasons.
Fafà Picault switched allegiances in 2023
Fafà is also an international with Haiti, opting to play for Les Grenadiers in 2023 even though he was born in New York (both of his parents are Haitian) and had appeared for the USMNT, playing two friendlies under Jürgen Klinsmann in 2016 and with Dave Sarachan at the helm in 2018.
“I’m deeply honored to join an ambitious club like Inter Miami,” Picault said. “Representing this badge and playing for the incredible fan base this organization has built locally, nationally, and internationally is a dream come true. I’m eager to meet my teammates and work together toward a historic 2025 campaign.
He added, “Returning to South Florida, a place I proudly call home, gives me the chance to be closer to my family and childhood friends while bringing excitement to this passionate fútbol community. This opportunity is truly special, and I’m eager to make history with this team”.
